CURRICULUM

Michelangelo Stregapede, pianoforte

Born in Venice in 1969 and began his piano studies at the age of seven under the instruction of his musician father.  He immediately showed exceptional musical gifts and was therefore accepted at a very young age into the conservatory of music “Benedetto Marcello” in Venice.  He made his official debut at the La Fenice Theatre in Venice at the age of eleven.  He obtained his Diploma in music with maximum marks cum laude. Between 1996 and 1999 he performed in the most important cities throughout Italy, presenting a very extensive repertoire in more than 200 concerts.

"“..the young Venetian pianist Michaelangelo Stregapede has once again demonstrated his extraordinary virtuoso talents.  With commendable instrumental lucidity the enormous difficulties of Chopin’s and Liszt’s Etudes were overcome….(Il Gazzettino)  “…the youthful pianist Michaelangelo Stregapede showed himself to be a brilliant performer of some Scarlatti sonatas and a vivid interpreter of certain passages from Rachmaninoff and Balakirev.  Noteworthy, also, his Beethoven presented with a judicious use of the keys, vigour and with sound formal control…” (IL Gazzettino) “ ..a rather gifted pianist as regards technique and expressiveness, Michaelangelo Stregapede has demonstrated with authority the incandescent instrumental tension which the works presented have in common…”(La Tribuna di Treviso). He has given concerts in Romania, Moldavia, England, Holland, Luxembourg.  He has performed as a soloist with the Paul Costantinescu” Orchestra of Ploiesti, (Romania), the Philharmonic Orchestra “M. Jora” of Bacau (Romania), the National Orchestra of Radio Bucharest (a live, nationwide transmission) and with the “Guido Cantelli” Orchestra of Milan. He has devoted the last two years to the preparation of Rachmaninoff’s difficult Third Concerto.
